Money Calculators
Free, accurate tools for every money decision — from your monthly mortgage payment and federal tax bill to your retirement savings and life insurance needs. Pick a calculator to get a result-first answer with a clear breakdown.
The tools fall into four groups: borrowing (mortgage, refinance, personal and auto loans, debt payoff), income and taxes (paycheck, federal income tax, sales tax), saving and planning (compound interest, retirement, life insurance), and prices over time (inflation). Each one asks only for the numbers it needs, shows the main result first, and explains the formula underneath with your own figures.

How to choose the right calculator
Buying a home or already own one
If you are shopping for a home, start with the mortgage calculator to see the full monthly payment with property tax, insurance and PMI. If you already have a mortgage and rates have changed, use the refinance calculator instead: it compares your current payment with a new loan and shows how long the closing costs take to pay back.
Borrowing or paying off debt
For a new fixed-rate loan, the loan calculator gives the payment and total interest; for a car, the auto loan calculator adds the trade-in, down payment and sales tax that change the amount financed. If you already carry a balance, such as credit cards, the debt payoff calculator shows when you will be debt-free and what an extra monthly payment saves.
Understanding your pay and taxes
To see what lands in your bank account each payday, use the paycheck calculator, which applies federal, FICA and state withholding to each paycheck; its state-by-state index links take-home pay pages for every state. To see your yearly federal bill bracket by bracket, use the income tax calculator. For the tax on a purchase, use the sales tax calculator.
Saving, investing and protecting your family
To project one savings balance at a fixed rate, use the compound interest calculator. To plan a whole career of contributions with a salary, raises and an employer match, use the retirement calculator. To size a life insurance policy from your income, debts and children's education, use the life insurance calculator. To compare a price or salary from another year, use the inflation calculator.

About our money calculators
Whether you are buying a home, financing a car, paying down credit cards, planning for retirement, or sizing a life insurance policy, the right calculator turns a big financial question into a clear number. Our money calculators use standard U.S. formulas — amortization for loans and mortgages, FICA and federal brackets for paychecks, and CPI data for inflation — so the estimates line up with how banks, lenders, and the IRS actually work. Every tool shows the answer first, then explains exactly how it was calculated, so you can trust the result and learn the math behind it. Bookmark this page to compare scenarios, and remember that these calculators provide educational estimates to guide your planning, not personalized financial advice.
